The mystical stone Larimar, also known as the “Dolphin Stone”

Did you know there is a stone called Larimar, also known as the “Dolphin Stone“? Larimar is considered one of the world’s three great healing stones and is a beautiful blue gem found only in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. Its exclusivity to this location makes it highly valuable. Larimar was discovered relatively recently, in 1974, by a geologist and local residents in the Dominican Republic. The name “Larimar” is derived from the discoverer’s daughter, “Larissa,” and the Spanish word for sea, “mar.” The gem’s stunning ocean-like hues are perfectly reflected in its name.

Larimar features a mesmerizing blue color reminiscent of the sea, with a gradient of blue, white, and blue-green. The natural patterns on the stone evoke waves, skies, and clouds, bringing a sense of calm and healing to those who behold it. This is one reason why it is also called the “Dolphin Stone” and is especially beloved by ocean and nature enthusiasts.

Why Is It Called the Dolphin Stone?

The name “Dolphin Stone” comes from the belief that the stone emits vibrations similar to the ultrasonic waves dolphins use to communicate. Wearing Larimar might make you feel as if you’re always accompanied by dolphins. The healing energy associated with dolphins is thought to restore balance to the body and mind. Additionally, Larimar is said to amplify the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual energies of the wearer. It can help release fear, resentment, and negative emotions. Simply looking at Larimar can bring a sense of peace, as if you are immersed in the sea’s calming energy.

Inspired by this story, we, who organize dolphin tours in Hawaii, have decided to offer this stone. The Dolphin Stone, Larimar, is available at our Dolphin & You shop, “Treasure & You” (307 Lewers St. #401).
